iPhone 3G+iOS4= slowdown and laggy?

Having installed the most recent version of iOS 4 on my iPhone 3G i noted a generalized slowdown when launching apps, reading email, etc.

In this article: Speed Up iPhone 3G + iOS4 with a Hard Reset? i found a possible solution:  ”A comment posted to MacInTouch suggests that a double Hard Reset of the phone may help minimize this problem, and indeed this has noticeably seemed to help with mine.”

And here: Get a Faster iPhone 3G With iOS 4 it´s suggested to do a restore and setup the phone as a new iPhone: ”Taking a leap, I decided to do a complete restore again, but this time without restoring from my backup (I still made one just in case); when I was prompted, I chose to setup a new phone. Guess what, it worked.”

Try. Maybe it will work.
